<td width="100%">
Very good George III carved mahogany breakfront campaign bookcase, with dentil-carved pediment, horizontally-fluted bookcase door frames retaining hand-glazed original hand-rolled glass panels, each door with square corner mediallion housing a raised plume surrounded by a beaded ring, center sections with 3 adjustable shelves each, set atop a tapered-legs frame terminating in spade feet, the apron of which is foliate and swag carved. The ogee molded crown pediment is ornamented with a frieze of beaded circles housing plumes such as the Prince of Wales feather motif. The pediment is removable, the two end bookcases are separate units the two center bookcases are made as one unit and the base frame is a 5th unit. Obviously, this was meant to be a campaign cabinet, able to be moved with greater ease than one large structure, such as the assembled piece. The interior backboards were a dry old red-brown finish, and we wallpapered them with a creme/taupe faux leather- grained wallpaper, to give it a completed and brighter interior appearance. This can be removed, if so desired, as it is mounted on museum board, but does not limited the proper fit of the adjustable or removable interior shelving in the center sections. The entire piece has been polished.
