<B>Georgia State Land Grant 1793</B></I> for 1000 acres issued to Robert Middleton of Washington County, Georgia. Middleton served as a colonel commanding Georgia volunteers during the American Revolution. He was also a member of the Georgia Legislature and the committee that ratified the United States Constitution. The partially printed document is boldly signed by Governor Edward Telfair, a four term member of congress and a signer of the Articles of Confederation. The grant is countersigned by Georgia Secretary of State John Milton, who received two votes of the Georgia electors for first president of the United States. The document, 12.5" x 14.5", has some tears at the folds and the edges.
