Georgia, June 8, 1777, $5, Rattlesnake vignette, with red in, Choice Crisp About Uncirculated.
One of the finest known examples of this denomination, having the appearance of a Gem CU from the face. This is a beautiful example of this highly popular issue "for the Support of the Continental Troops". Printed in both red and bold black ink for the text, this note has four full margins, three large to huge and the bottom a bit tight, but clear of the border design. The signatures and low serial number "33" are in vibrant brown ink and add rich eye appeal. The Rattlesnake vignette was lightly inked when printed, as made, and remains clearly visible at lower right. The paper is clean of defects and of any notations on the blank verso, Overall a wonderful, eye popping specimen which would certainly enhance any quality collection.
