Born and educated in France, Rondel was one of a group of expatriates who gathered in Dublin during WWII and formed the White Stag group. Along with Basil Rákóczi and Kenneth Hall, her work represented the avant-garde in Irish art at the time, revealing the influence of European artists such as Rouault and Braque. (See S. B.
