Scholar, jurist, opponent of slavery (1726–1806) who was the first of the seven Virginia signatories of the Declaration of Independence. Manuscript DS, signed “Go. Wythe,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 7.75 x 12.75, April 26, 1800. Document concerning testimony given before the Chancery Court of Virginia in the case of Wilson vs. Byrnside, endorsed at the conclusion: “The injunction is awarded on the usual terms, 26 April, 1800, Go. Wythe.” Encapsulated in a mylar sleeve. In very good to fine condition.
