Irish nationalist, writer, and painter, who worked under the pseudonym AE (1867–1935). ALS signed “AE,” one page, 8.5 x 11, The AE Committee letterhead, no date. Letter to Lewis Mumford. In part: “I find since I came back that every evening has been planned out for me, and only my mornings are free…your country is a very busy one & it leaves its visitors no time for reverie.” Mumford has written a draft response on the reverse in pencil, signed “Lewis Mumford,” in part: “Letter forwarded alas too late for return. Hope to meet in Dublin or Heaven.” Intersecting folds and overall creases, otherwise fine condition.
