A contemporary of Frank Lloyd Wright, George Washington Maher was a Prairie School architect whose work is known for implementing organic forms to soften the overt geometry of his architecture. Maher would incorporate an indigenous flower as a unifying motif for a particular project. He used the Poppy motif extensively in his most important commissions.
