George Washington Invitation
"WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS BY THE AUCTIONEER ONCE ALL BIDS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED TO DETERMINE THE WINNER FOR EACH LOT."
George Washington engraved invitation for dinner at the Presidential residence, likely the mansion rented from Robert Morris at 524 Market Street in Philadelphia, where the Washingtons lived from November 1790 to March 1797. Invitation reads: ''The President of the United States and Mrs. Washington, request the Pleasure of _________ Company to Dine, on ______ next, at ____o'Clock. ______179_ An answer is requested''. Early printed presidential invitations are rather scarce and highly desirable among presidential and political collectors. Measures 6'' x 4''. Tiny spot of foxing affects one letter in first line, else fine condition.
