<B>George Washington Custis Lee Document Signed</B></I> <I>G. W. C. Lee</B></I> as president of Washington & Lee University, Lexington, Virginia, 12 x 9.5, dated June 14, 1893, on university diploma, two areas of discoloration one of which has affected Lee's last name, else very good condition. George Washington Custis Lee (1832-1913) was the eldest son of Robert E. Lee. Like his father Custis Lee had himself been a general on the side of the Confederacy during the Civil War and like his father a president of the university from 1871-1897. The diploma was issued to a Lowndes Calhoun.
