ALS signed “G. W. Carver,” one page both sides, Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute letterhead, January 16, 1933. Handwritten letter to his white botany student Ford Davis, who became his close friend, and to whom he refers to here as "My very own precious boy, Mr. Davis," in full: "I look for my dear handsome boy on the 8th then I thought surely I would see you yesterday. I did not want to write you until you could see the marvelous book, which contains one of your beautiful letters. I have never seen anything like it before, it is priceless, containing 45 letters. It is one of the finest examples of crystalized love I have ever seen. I do hope my dear boy is well, the closing of the Bank of Tuskegee did not leave me money enough to get a pair of shoes, but I am not worried or grieving, just praying for health and strength to do my work and I will make it. Dear, I hope you are well and can come to see me as soon as the roads get good. It looks now like it is going to begin raining again. Yours with so much love and good wishes." In fine condition. Accompanied by a glossy photo of Carver, the same image used by the United States Farm Security Administration in March 1942.
