"Queen Elizabeth left her castle one day during a severe winter in the absence of her husband carrying in the skirts of her robe a supply of food for a poor family.
As she was descending the frozen and slippery path, her husband met her ...What dos't thou here my Elizabeth? She, wishing him not to see what she was carrying, pressed her mantle to her bosom, but he insisted & opening her robe, they beheld only red & white roses, more beautiful than any grown in summer time."
