George Shearing Quintet Autographs
George Shearing Quintet Autographs. During the '50s and '60s George Shearing had one of the most popular Jazz combos of all. His main claim to fame was the invention of a unique quintet sound that came from a combination of piano, vibraphone, electric guitar, bass, and drums. Included is a group of signatures from Shearing combos in the mid-1950s. The back of this playbill was signed by Toots Thielemans (guitar), Armando Peraza (bongos), George Shearing (piano), Emil Richards (vibraphone), and Al McKibbon (bass). Besides Shearing, each noted his instrument, with Richards drawing a vibraphone next to his. Thielemans and McKibbon signed in pencil, Peraza and Richards signed in blue ink, and Shearing signed in black ink. In Good condition. The playbill was folded into quarters with nicking to the edges. The bottom corners are clipped and there is some staining and age toning. The signatures are clean, clearly presenting this stellar quintet. Accompanied by a COA from PSA/DNA.Condition Report: In Good condition.
