George S. Patton, Jr. Typed Letter Signed
George S. Patton, Jr. Typed Letter Signed, "G S Patton Jr.", one page on Commanding Officer's letterhead, 7" x 10", Fort Myer, Virginia, October 31, 1939, to Mr. C.Z. Christopher, Boston, Massachusetts. The letter reads in full: "My dear Mr. Christopher; I have authorized Ed Hopping to purchase from the Lawn Mower Service Company of Sommerville, Massachusetts, one National Heavy Duty Sickle Bar Mower. The price should be $198.90. I told him to have this bill sent to the office. With many thanks, I am, as ever Most Sincerely yours,". Patton, who came to be called "Old Blood and Guts," was well into his Army career by 1939. A staunch advocate of armored cavalry, Patton would achieve fame as one of Eisenhower's more bellicose - and successful - generals during World War II. This letter appears to be crisp and in excellent condition. It is professionally matted and framed along with a group of six postage stamps commemorating the General.

Shipping: Framed (view shipping information)
