General George S. Patton's personal letter, handwritten by him while a young man studying at West Point. In this letter dated 18 August 1904, Patton writes in part: ''…the first class were having artillery practice this morning and though we could not see the guns we could see the shell bursting on the hills and it looked fine…'' Letter is signed ''…your loving brother / Georgie.'' Envelope addressed to ''Mrs. Geo S. Patton'', bears postmarks from West Point, New York and London. Letter is double sided, folded card style. Near fine.
