George Papp - Original Art Panel Page from Superboy #90 (DC, 1961). This is page 3 from the story entitled, "Pete Ross' Super-Secret!" Pete Ross learned Superboy's secret identity in this milestone story that was so much a fan favorite that it was reprinted in both Adventure Comics #343 and Best of DC Comics #15. George Papp managed to maintain the signature style of Superboy while adding his unique approach to the elements within its panels. His inks on the Superboy image have a line quality that seem to be different from the other characters. They are shorter and further apart which helps to convey an essence of speed and power as if Superboy's body is actually bursting with energy. That same line quality adds an dynamic atmosphere to each mobile element in the backgrounds which give the viewer an energetic experience and swiftly carries the eye from panel to panel. This page is in very nice shape and measures 14.25" x 20.5" with an image area of approximately 13" x 18". George Papp's pencils are evident beneath his inks and the bottom left panel contains a 1" square original art overlay that was glued over Superboy's head.
