George McManus - Spare Ribs and Gravy Sunday Comic Stri
Albert Carmichael - Spare Ribs and Gravy Sunday Comic Strip Original Art, dated 8-18-12 (NY World, 1912). Fans of George McManus' wonderful art deco ""clear line"" cartooning style will be amazed at how closely artist Albert Carmichael has ""appropriated"" the McManus touch in this side-splitting Sunday. Carmichael also worked on the early comic strip laugh-riot, Rosie -- The Joy of New York Life around this time, and this Spare Ribs and Gravy Sunday may be one of his few surviving originals. The Sunday has an image area of 18"" x 18"" and aside from some mild signs of paper aging and edge wear, this early original is in Very Good condition.

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids just like floor bids. In most cases the floor responds before the eBay bi
