George McClellan: Ornate Sword and Scabbard Made for Presentation Purposes and Featuring a High-Relief Bust of McClellan. Dated 1862. "U.S." incorporated into the openwork brass halt with eagle's head. The scabbard has brass decorations in the form of a collage of patriotic motifs and a high-relief profile portrait of McClellan. The elaborately embossed blade bears the imprint "Collins & Co. Hartford, Conn. 1862". Such swords were sold to be engraved and presented to officers by their troops, but this one was never personalized. Beautiful condition with tremendous display appeal. One of the prize rarities in the Gillette Collection; we have never seen another example. Length including scabbard 39.75".

Shipping: Bats, Clubs, Sticks, Swords, Rif (view shipping information)
