George Maledon aka " The Prince of Hangmen " Smith & Wesson DA Frontier .44 revolver serial number 11105 with a 5 " barrel. Maledon is credited for hanging 88 men from 1871-1894 for Judge Parker at Fort Smith. The revolver was handed down by his grandson in 1949. There is a photo that depicts Maledon with two revolvers around his waist, with this one being on the left side if his hip. This photo can be seen on page 142 of James D Horan and Paul Sann's book " Pictorial History of the Wild West ". Condition is as followed. Metal is a grey/ plum patina with mottled oxidation present throughout. Grips are well worn with smooth checkering; material loss is noted underside left grip with crack visible on right. Hammer has the tip broken off. Action functions correctly, bore shows visible rifling with pitting noted in the lands and grooves. Comes with original holster as well.
