For your consideration is this George Lawrence model 4 fishing creel from the 1950s. From 1923 to 1954, the Lawrence Company was a leading manufacturer of Oregon creels in Portland. The George Lawrence Company, founded in 1857 in Portland, Oregon, was known for creating high-quality leather items, such as fishing creels. Their creels, made between 1923 and 1954, are renowned for their superior craftsmanship and design. These creels have finely woven wicker baskets accented by saddle leather components. The leather is frequently tooled or embossed, revealing exquisite designs and exceptional craftsmanship. This creel features a split willow weave and leather construction and an open section in the top for throwing fish in and a handle on the back for easy carrying. The leather is hand tooled in geometric designs and features a leather and metal belt buckle. The leather buckle has been broken. It shows good condition overall with wear present from its age and use over the years and the only damage noted is the broken leather belt buckle. It measures 6 3/4" L x 15 1/8" W x 9 3/4" H and weighs 2 pounds and 6 ounces.
