George Knight, attr., Oil Painting, Northumberland, c. 1860
This oil painting was presumably painted by the British landscapist George Knight around 1860. In harmonious colors we look at some a boat and some figures on a shore. The scene is obviously located in Northumberland. In the background a castle situated on a hill can be discerned. The clear sky is crossed by small, occasional clouds. The setting sun creates a warm atmosphere.

Lower left is an old, barely legible inscription. The varnished work is in good condition considering its age with some signs of wear. There are framing marks, light craquelure and some touch-ups to the background. The canvas is relined. The frame shows signs of age and wear as well. Framed the work measures 38.5 x 58.5 cm and the stretcher frame is 30.5 x 50.5 cm.
