A beautiful and pedigreed example of the first gold coinage of King George III's eldest son, used for the Coronation Proof sets. Pistrucci's engraving of the king's portrait appears, combined with the intricate, beautiful rendition of the royal crest, ornately outlined and decorated (taking its inspiration from the 1820 pattern, WR-206?) with tiny versions of the Tudor rose, Scots thistle and Irish shamrock. Certainly, few coins can boast of the artistry of this coin's reverse! PR64 DCAM PCGS <I>Terner Registry,</B></I> a splendid Proof having lovely golden toning and a most pleasing, frosted effect, setting off the portrait and the shield from the surrounding fields.
