John Garlside is appointed a Lt. Colonel of the Royal Lancashire Volunteers. The regiment named was first raised during the american Revolution and was re-activated as the Napoleonic Wars heated up. A splendid memento from a crucial period popularized by fictional characters such as Horatio Hornblower and Richard Sharpe. Large, bold signature of "America's Last King". Affixed with embossed paper seals. Folds and light toning. Fine condition.
