A George III mahogany and marquetry tea caddy of rectangular form, dating to the early 19th century. The exterior features a conch shell theme with inlaid oval medallions on the lid and front panel, set on a green-stained ground. These medallions are enclosed within decorative borders of boxwood and ebony stringing and cross-banding, with inlaid fan or sunburst motifs at each corner. The hinged lid opens to reveal the interior divided into two compartments, each containing a separate wooden lid with a turned knob and matching inlaid borders. A small metal key is present.
