Union general (1816–1870) whose most decisive victory earned him the sobriquet "Rock of Chickamauga.” Original vintage 2.5 x 4 carte-de-visite photo, originally taken by A. B. Morse, signed in the lower border in black ink, “Geo. H. Thomas, Maj. Genl USA.” Matted and framed to an overall size of 9 x 10.25. A bit of scattered light silvering along bottom, and some scattered light foxing, primarily to background, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
