Union general (1816–1870) whose most decisive victory earned him the sobriquet ‘Rock of Chickamauga.’ Original 2.5 x 4 carte-de-visite bust portrait of Thomas in uniform, by A. S. Morse of Nashville, signed at the bottom of the image in black ink, “Geo. H. Thomas, Maj. Genl USA.” In fine condition, with some light surface spots and marks, trivial silvering to dark areas of the image, and the signature a shade light.
