German artist (1893–1959) who often found himself in trouble with various authorities for his unsparingly satirical depictions of German society. Program from Paintings of the Nude, an exhibition of Grosz’s painting at the Walker Galleries in New York in 1941, 5.5 x 8.5, 3 pages. Grosz has written a message in red ink on the front cover, “Dear Antoinette, I hope you’ll enjoy the show and please bring your sister along. I don’t know her address,” ending the message above his pre-printed signature. In very good condition, with central horizontal fold, blurring of a few words from exposure to water droplets, and a slight separation along the lower part of the spine. RRAuction COA.
