George Gibbs best quality side lock ejector double rifle in 22 hornet caliber with 24” barrel in original case with trade label in lid. The gun shows 24” barrels, measures 40-1/2” overall and shows fine bank notescroll engraving with select checkered walnut stocks. The stocks show a nice grain and are crisply checkered with loops for swing swivels. The barrels show George Gibbs #39 Corn Street, Bristol address with proofs for45 grain bullet and 22 hornet markings on bottom breeches of barrels. The rifle shows serial #17396 and has been restored to excellent condition with correct color blue and case hardening and refreshed stocksprobably by Gibbs or other English gun smith. 22 hornet double rifles with side lock actions are rare and are sought after by collector’s but seldom seen. The bores are fine to excellent and the rifle shows slightuse since refurbish. The case is in good condition showing some traveling and normal aging. A set of scope rings are included which fit into the tap holes filled by screws in top rib. From the Robert E. Petersen
