American inventor and entrepreneur (1854–1932), founder of the Eastman Kodak company, whose invention of roll film revolutionized photography and helped make the once-specialized art and craft a popular pastime. TLS signed “Geo. Eastman,” one page, 8 x 9.5, Office of George Eastman letterhead, January 7, 1925. Letter to Ethel Leginska in New York City. In full: “I regret very much that I shall not be in New York on the 9th inst. as I would be much interested to see you conduct the New York Symphony. Thank you very much for your invitation. I am expecting to hear any minute of Mr. and Mrs. Coates’ arrival in America.” In fine condition, with intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, uniform toning, and a couple of diagonal creases, one passing through portion of signature.
