American admiral (1837–1917) best known for his fabled victory at the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish-American War. LS, two pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.75 x 8, Flagship Olympia letterhead, June 29, 1899. Letter to the Pach Bros. photography studio in New York. In part: “My aide, Mr. Scott, has just given me the group photograph of Admiral Farragut, General Sheridan, and others, that you sent to me through him and I beg to express my appreciation of your remembrance.” In fine condition, with toning to edges. Accompanied by an unsigned vintage photo of Dewey.
