George Custer ALS 1864
"WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS BY THE AUCTIONEER ONCE ALL BIDS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED TO DETERMINE THE WINNER FOR EACH LOT."
Rare Civil War dated autograph letter signed by General George Armstrong Custer, in the field and in need of supplies. Dated 8 December 1864, Custer writes from the 3rd Division Cavalry Headquarters, ''The Commissary of the 1st Brig. is authorized to issue to the bearer (50) fifty pounds of salt. / G.A. Custer / Bvt. Maj. Genl. / Comg. 3 Div''. Letter measures 7.75'' x 4.25'' with some light age toning, mounting remnants to verso and handwriting on the letter regarding General Custer's life. Overall in very good condition. Letter was used in Charles Hamilton's book, ''The Signature of America'' as an example of Custer's handwriting. Quite rare.
