Two TLSs to Danish film director Carl Dreyer, both one onionskin page, 8.5 x 11, dated January 15, 1964, and January 5, 1966. One letter, in full: “I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the thoughtful and generous present you made on my behalf to ‘Kennedywood.’ It’s especially touching because I was a great, great admirer of Mr. Kennedy. His death was a blow from which many of us have not yet recovered. It was a very personal loss. How wonderful that there will be a living memorial to him in Israel. We’ve finished shooting My Fair Lady and are presently editing it. I’ve promised myself a holiday, most likely in Europe. I hope I will be lucky enough to see you in Copenhagen to give you my belated good wishes for your birthday. I was pleased to be included among those asked to pay homage to you by the Berlingske Tidende.” A stray mark, slight creasing, and a missing upper right corner tip to the letter dated 1966, otherwise overall fine condition. My Fair Lady would go on to win eight Oscars at the 1965 Academy Awards, including a best director award for Cukor.
