British caricaturist and illustrator (1792–1878) best known for his works satirizing contemporary politics and his illustrations for the works of Charles Dickens. Engraved portrait of Cruikshank by D. J. Pound from a photograph by John and Charles Watkins, 8.75 x 11.25, signed in the lower border, “Geo. Cruikshank.” In fine condition, with light surface loss to edges from previous display, which could be easily matted out, and a few light surface marks to image.
