George Campbell RHA (1917-1979) and ARTHUR POWER HRHA (1891-1984) PHOTOGRAPHS, CLIPPINGS AND A LETTER<BR><BR>A small archive of ephemeral material relating primarily to George Campbell, including four black and white photographs of his works, each annotated with details of their exhibition history and provenance, five magazine clippings of reproductions of Campbell’s work, likewise annotated, and a copy of The Artist magazine, Vol. 51 No. 4, June 1956, containing an article written by Campbell on the technique of watercolour painting and with a reproduction of his work on the front cover. Also with a letter from the painter Arthur Power to Mr Stoddard, here referred to in alias as “Farrington Augustus”, sent from 40 Park Avenue Sandymount (Power’s residence 1954-1980) and dated 24 July 1960. The letter refers to common acquaintances including Patrick Collins (“Paddy the painter”) and George Campbell, who according to Power came to Dublin and “gave us a brilliant show”, but “has now returned after a few guitar sessions to London again”; also mentions Brendan Behan, Nano Reid, and W. B. Yeat’s biographer Joseph Hone (1882-1959).<BR>
