TLS, one page, 6.25 x 8.5, personal letterhead, September 25, 2003. Letter to Ron Wade, in full: "That advertisement appeared when I was at Yale University. Barbara and I were paid a very modest fee for going down to New York ad appearing in the ad. I recall that they also had some all–American football player from Michigan. I am very vague on how we were picked, but I do remember it was a very pleasant overnight in New York. In those days, that was a great treat for Barbara and me." Includes a copy of Vogue magazine from August 1, 1948, which features on the back cover a Bates Fabrics advertisement showing George and Barbara in a casual living room setting. In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. The recipient, Ron Wade, was a floor leader at the 1988 Republican National Convention and was later appointed by Bush to his Presidential Inaugural Committee. He served as the regional director for Bush's campaign races in 1980, 1988, and 1992.
