TLS from Vice President George Bush, one page, 7 x 9, The Vice President letterhead, April 6, 1987. Letter to Richard B. Liblong, in full: "I hate to be uncooperative, but I just don't think I have the time to do the kind of job that your work on President Ford would require. I have tremendously high regard for President Ford. Not only did he appoint me as Chief of the U.S. Liaison Office in China (1974–75), but he asked me to come back from China to run the CIA, which I did in 1976. President Ford was a healer, a good listener, and a man for whom I have unlimited respect. To do a shoddy job on 'recollections' would be unfair to him and unfair to your work. I hope you understand." Signed below in black ink, "George Bush," and just below in blue felt tip, "Very nice. Gerald R. Ford." In very fine condition.
