ANS as president, one page, 3.25 x 5, embossed presidential stationery card letterhead, December 22, 1989. Handwritten note to his fishing partner, Bob Boilard, in full: "Merry Christmas. Maybe these tapes will hold you 'til we go for the real thing—George Bush." Reverse is dated in black ink. In very fine condition. Accompanied by the original White House mailing envelope.

A longtime friend and fishing partner of President George H. W. Bush, Boilard wrote that he never spoke about politics with President Bush, but kept topics to family, friends, fishing, and Maine. In a letter to Boilard featured in the book All The Best, George Bush, Vice President Bush says 'Bob, I’m going to win, but I’ll promise you one thing—it won’t affect our fishing together. Life is about friends and values. You are my friend. Keep your fingers crossed. George Bush.'
