George Burns & Gracie Allen's Personal Items From California Residence From The Joe Franklin Memory Lane Collection - This collection of items was acquired from the California home of George Burns and Gracie Allen. The lot includes a "Forcaster" briar wood smoking pipe, unused bridge set and (5) "The Cast" Broadway programs. George Burns and his wife Gracie Allen worked together as a successful comedy team "Burns and Allen", and entertained vaudeville, film, radio, and television audiences for over forty years. They also starred in several films including Lambchops (1929), The Big Broadcast (1932) and two sequels in 1935 and 1936, and A Damsel in Distress (1937). Burns and Allen's radio show was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 1994, their TV series received a total of 11 Primetime Emmy Award nominations and produced what TV Guide ranked No. 56 on its 1997 list of the 100 greatest episodes of all time. They were also inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1988. These items were acquired from the couple by legendary radio and television personality Joe Franklin in 1961 while visiting the couple for dinner at their California home. The items will come housed in Franklin's original storage envelope, with handwritten notations.
