ANS signed "G. Bernard Shaw, 10 Adelphi Terrace W.C., 27th Nov. 1912," penned at the bottom of a letter sent to him by Fred J. Melville, editor of The Stamp Lover, one page, 8 x 10.25, November 20, 1912. Melville sends an example of "the 'Ideal' Stamp, which is in fact a practical suggestion for improving the surface printed stamps of Great Britain…printed and perforated at the recent Jubilee International Stamp Exhibition." Asked for his opinion of the stamp, Shaw writes: "The shape is more elegant than the official one; and it economises paper. But it is equally hopeless from the decorative point of view, as all these hideous midget-portrait stamps must necessarily be." In fine condition. Accompanied by five other examples of the 'Ideal Stamp,' printed in different colors.
