ALS signed “G.B.S.,” one page, 3.5 x 4.5, personal stationery card letterhead, May 13, 1924. Letter to Norman MacDermott of Hampstead's Everyman Theatre, in part: "Rains would be first rate; but the lady would be an experiment. She has a very vigorous comic talent; but whether there is a poetic side to it I don't know: there has been no magic about her so far. I am coming up to town tomorrow & will look through my list for suggestions. Oscar, Lena Schwell's Dick Dudgeon, wants the D's D to 'take round London.' I have referred him to you. Did you see his performance? His Edmund in Lear at the Phoenix was not very good; but he was miscast: the tradition of the part is lost. Edmund should be a humorist: the Bastard in King John turned villain." Addressed on the reverse in Shaw's hand. In fine condition.
