Jockey (1890–1927) and winner of the 1911 Kentucky Derby with champion horse Meridian. Archibald had a relatively short life, dying in his 30s, only a year after this document was signed. Archibald’s rare embarkation card, one page, 6 x 4, stamp dated June 25, 1926 on the reverse. Embarkation card is filled out in black fountain pen by Archibald, including his full name “George William Archibald,” age “37,” occupation “Jockey,” and address in the UK. Signed at the bottom in black fountain pen “GW Archibald.” In fine condition, with expected light corner wear from handling. Embarkation cards, also known as a departure cards, are used by immigration authorities as a means of passenger identification and record of entry and departure between countries.
