Senior member of John Fraser and Company, became Secretary of the Treasury of the Confederate States early in the Civil War. DS, signed “G. A. Trenholm,” one page both sides, 8.5 x 10.25, January 1, 1868. A $500 bond certificate issued by John Fraser and Company and Fraser, Trenholm and Company to James Robb and Charles T. Lowndes. Document retains one of its coupons along bottom edge. In very good condition, with scattered toning, heavier along horizontal folds, irregular bottom edge from clipped coupons, and stamps to reverse.
