Georg Wolf Wirzburgh Marked Over Under Percussion Shotgun with Brass Mountings
This over under shotgun features swivel barrels with a release mechanism that also acts as the front section of the trigger guard. Each barrel has a blade front sight in the center of a silver inlay, with the upper left and right flats adorned with a light silver inlaid scroll pattern and the top flat featuring a silver inlaid marking ("GEORG WOLF" followed by the number "1" on one barrel, "In Wirzburgh" followed by the number "2" on the other barrel). The percussion bolsters are engraved as well as the metal between the barrels at the breech. The breech plugs are casehardened with a gold inlaid arrow. The upper tang has a floral engraving with a half sun design at the breech which becomes a full sun when the barrels are locked in the firing position (the metal behind the breech plugs are engraved with the other half of the sun). The artfully shaped and scale engraved hammer features a floral design engraving on the side with a checkered spur. The lock plate is engraved with a wild bore scene. The flat buttplate, trigger guard, ramrod pipes, forend tip, and side plate are brass, with three ornate brass overlays appearing on the forearm with an incised carved border. Additional brass overlays are on the raised cheekpieces and right stock flat. Ambidextrous full length stock with a raised cheekpiece on the left and right side of the buttstock. A ramrod channel is on the right side of the stock with a horn tipped wooden ramrod. The shotgun has double set triggers.
