Gentleman Prefer Blondes Lorelei Lee (Marilyn Monroe) Fish Net Stockings
Perhaps the three most iconic images of Marilyn Monroe are her "Seven Year Itch" subway dress, her "Golden Dreams" overhead nude calendar photo, and finally her glorious statuesque figure semi-covered with a top hat, cane, black sequined body suit, and those eye-popping fish-net stockings from "Gentleman Prefer Blondes" (1953). Here is a pair of those iconic fishnet stockings screen worn by Monroe in her best musical, in which she sparkled under Howard Hawks’ masterful direction, These stockings are rare for many reasons, including the fact that they are in near-perfect condition (Marilyn was extremely rough on her outfits) showing only a few tiny separations. They also display the famous black seams, and have the official "20th Century Fox" label inside the elastic band along with "M. Monroe no.769" hand-written in ink. The brand name "Triumph", legendary for truly sexy ladies’ hosiery, is also inside the band. And of special interest, these stockings retain traces of gold-sparkle makeup which Marilyn wore for this number. Of all the Monroe memorabilia there is very little left that is so quickly and easily recognizable as these exquisite stockings. They are a true treasure of Hollywood and one of its greatest talents and sex-symbols. Comes with a Letter of Provenance from the son of one of the Fox crew employees who obtained the stockings from a wardrobe member on the set of "Gentleman Prefer Blondes" in 1953.
