General Winfield Scott signed Army ''General Orders'' related to soldier abuse in the Seminole Wars, published 20 August 1842. Signed ''Winfield Scott'' upon the last page of booklet which reads, ''...[there is] suspicion that blows, kicks, cuffs and lashes...have been inflicted upon private soldiers of the army by their officers...For insolent words, addressed to a superior, let the soldier be ordered into confinement...'' Booklet measuring 4.75'' x 7.5'' is in near fine condition with staple marks, minor staining and one line redacted.
