lot of 2. First is Montana Territory, Prepared by Order of Maj. Genl. W.S. Hancock. 2nd edition, May 1875, published by Army Engineers by authority of Secretary of War. 34 x 52" linen backed. Map has Ruger's handwritten notes about everything from creek names, to mountains, roads and trails, range land, etc. A "working" map showing updated information, lots of wear. Second is two parts of four of another map published by the Office of the Chief of Engineers of the Army under the authority of the Secretary of War. Title block was probably in top margin or parts 1 or 2. These two are parts 3 and 4 and are attached. Fort Reno is underlined in red, as is Quanah. Fort Sill and Fort Stanton marked with flags and underlined, and routes between the two are marked with landmarks along the way. Each part is 28 x 32".

Descended directly in the family of General Thomas H. Ruger

Condition: Both folded. Linen backed map has separations in paper, a few sections where it is pulling away from backing. Just a couple toned strips on second map, else fine.
