General Philip Kearny Signature. General Philip Kearny Signature.
General Philip Kearny Signature. Kearny signs on this 3.5" x 1.5" piece of paper as "P. Kearny Junior 1st Lieut. 1st Dragoons." He received this rank in the year 1837. Kearny was killed at the Battle of Chantilly in 1862. Kearny was a brave soldier who was responsible for the use of unit insignias; he was also known to ride into battle with his reins in his teeth bearing his pistol in his left hand. A fierce sight. The signature is in fine condition; the glue used to lay down the signature has soaked through and stained the obverse slightly. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
