<B>General Oliver Otis Howard Autograph Letter Signed</B></I> “<I>O. O. Howard</B></I>”. One page, 5.5” x 8.25”, on Howard's personal letterhead, Burlington, Vermont, July 1, 1895, in ink, to James D. Perkins, New York. The letter reads in full: “<I>Dear Sir: It gives me pleasure to comply with your modest request. Very truly yours O. O. Howard</B></I>”. Oliver O. Howard (1830-1909) was a career army officer and Union general during the Civil War. Though he was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions at the battle of Fair Oaks, he suffered humiliation at the battles of Chancellorville and Gettysburg. After the war Howard was namesake and a founding member of Howard University. The ink has bled through slightly affecting an integral sheet, else good condition. <I>From the collection of Henry E.
