Manufactured in 1862, with a 3 screw frame cut for a shoulder stock, with a steel back strap. The top of the barrel has the one line New York U. S. America address flanked by dashes, "COLTS / PATENT" on the left side of the frame and the Texas naval battle scene on the rebated cylinder. Inspector initial "D" is found the left side of the barrel just to the right of the wedge screw, "L" on the right side, "D" on the front portion of the cylinder and "T" on the rebated portion, and a "H" behind the trigger guard bow and on top of the back strap. Matching serial number on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, and back strap and partial number "2435" on the cylinder. The wedge is secured too tightly to check internal parts. The grip has a partial visible cartouche on the right side. The accompanying factory letter verifies the serial number, caliber, 8 inch barrel, "Blue/Brass" finish, grips as "Not Listed" and that it was shipped as 1 of 1,200 sold to the United States Government, shipped to General N.B. Baker, Commanding U.S. Quartermaster, Davenport, Iowa on October 31, 1862.
