This sword once belonged to General George Armstrong Custer. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own an iconic piece of American history. This sword was given to Custer's brother. Impeccable provenance. The consignor believes he's the 8th owner of this sword of the most famous of American Generals. As seen on Wikipedia.

In addition, as this item was given to Custer's brother, the Custer family subsequently passed it along to the Dunbar Family. The current owner of this sword has extensively contacted and researched the Dunbar Family, who reside in Monroe, Michigan. The Dunbar's are a prominent family and are highly regarded in their community. Their signatures on the declaration are all original copies.

From the Dunbar family, this sword was owned until October 22, 1955 when it was sold.

In 1999 the sword was sold to Dr. Elizabeth Atwood Lawrence along with many other memorabilia in the Butterfield & Butterfield auction.
