Amazing photograph display of the Apollo 16 mission presented to astronaut Gene Cernan prior to his Apollo 17 mission, which contains a central Apollo 16 crew list with an affixed mission insignia, signed in black felt tip by John Young, Ken Mattingly, and Charlie Duke. The display features a group of seven original glossy NASA photos of notable events from the mission, which includes images of liftoff, the lunar surface, Young leaping and saluting the American flag during a lunar EVA, Mattingly during a deep-space EVA, Duke standing next to the moon’s Plum Crater rim, the Earth as viewed from the moon, and successful splashdown; the photos are affixed to the original 23.5 x 19.75 mount, which is signed and inscribed in black ink by Duke on behalf of himself and Young: “To Gene, it was a super great experience. Have a ball on 17. It’s been great working with you. John & Charlie.” Framed to an overall size of 25.25 x 21.25. In very good to fine condition, with scattered scuffs and tears to photos; the signatures remain unaffected.
